1.PREMIER LI SPEAKS ON IMPLEMENTATION OF POLICIES TO STABILIZE ECONOMY

李克强谈稳经济一揽子措施部署

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang underlined the need to earnestly implement policies to stabilize【稳定】 the economy and support market entities, employment and people's livelihoods.

国务院总理李克强在全国稳住经济大盘电视电话会议上强调，扎实推动稳经济各项政策落地见效，保市场主体保就业保民生，确保经济运行在合理区间。

He made the remarks at a national teleconference【电话会议】 held yesterday by the State Council, urging efforts to keep the economy running within an appropriate range. Li said that indicators such as employment, industrial production, power consumption and cargo transportation began to decline in the months of March and April. The premiere said that the difficulties facing the country now, are to a certain extent, greater than those experienced in the early days of the pandemic in 2020. Li stressed that more work should be done to support market entities, and that local authorities should introduce mechanisms【机制】 to help them manage difficulties in order to stabilize and increase jobs.

李克强在国务院昨日（5/25）召开的全国电视电话会议上提到，要努力保持经济运行在合理区间。李克强表示，从3、4月份以来，就业、工业生产、电力消费、货物运输等经济指标明显走低，困难在某些方面和一定程度上比2020年疫情严重冲击时还大。李克强强调，要加大对市场主体的支持力度，地方政府要引入机制，帮助他们解决困难，以稳定和增加就业。

Emphasizing the recently proposed 33 measures to stabilize the economy, he issued an order to government departments to introduce practical implementation measures by the end of May. The Premiere announced that the State Council will send task forces to 12 provinces from Thursday to oversee the implementation of economic stabilization policies.

Shanghai reported 48 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 290 asymptomatic carriers yesterday. No new infections were found outside of isolated and controlled areas. Zhang Hong tells us more.

4,270 patients were released after recovering from COVID-19, while 118 patients remain listed as severe, and 34 listed as critical. One COVID-19-related fatality was reported yesterday, a 63-year-old woman who was unvaccinated【未接种疫苗】.

共计4270 名患者康复出院， 现有重型患者118 例， 危重型患者34 例。昨日（5/25）新增本土死亡病例1例，女性，63岁，该病例未曾接种过新冠疫苗。

The latest update to the city's risk areas shows over 21 million people now reside in "precautionary" areas. Earlier this month, the city made the decision to postpone both the national college entrance exam, and the local high school entrance exam to July, and as progress had been made in pandemic control, some of the students will be allowed to return to campus in early June.

After careful research and with the approval of the city's pandemic control authority, we've decided to allow grade 11 and 12 students to return to schools starting from June 6th, and grade 9 students from June 13th. But due to the pandemic, they may continue to study remotely if they choose.

经慎重研究并报市疫情防控领导小组同意，我们决定全市高三、高二年级学生从6月6日，初三年级学生从6月13日起返校复学。因为情况特别，我们对这次高三、高二和初三同学返校复学不做强制要求，考生和考生家长可以选择返校复学，也可以选择居家线上复习。

Students in other grades will continue with remote learning until the end of this semester. Makeshift hospitals and transfer centers set up inside schools have all been closed and three rounds of thorough disinfection【消杀】 are expected to be completed by Sunday. Students and staff need to take an antigen【抗原】 test before entering the school and a PCR test before leaving every day. PCR testing sites will be set up on campuses to ensure that test results will be available within 12 hours.

We want to make sure that students can get their test result before going to school the next day. Students whose test results come back as abnormal will be transferred to a medical observation site at "Oriental Land" in Qingpu District, and they will take their classes online. Makeshift test sites for college and high school entrance exams will be set up for students who have tested positive, as well as those listed as close contacts.

The Education Commission said districts and schools will arrange designated vehicles for those who have difficulties in commuting to school.

Additionally, ten measures have been rolled out to make the registration【注册】 of new students at kindergartens, primary and middle schools easier. Those who cannot complete the relocation【迁移】 process for their Shanghai household registration can submit an application online and their children can be enrolled in a school based on the preliminarily【初步地】 approved household registration address.

此外，市教委还推出了新生入学入园十项便民举措，方便幼儿园、小学和中学新生注册。因疫情无法现场办理本市户口迁移的，可通过“一网通办”提出申请，按预审通过的户籍地址办理入学。

Delegates【代表】 attending the World Economic Forum gathered for the final day in Davos. The meeting wrapped up today with an address by German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.

In addition, the World Economic Forum and leaders of some of the world's largest businesses announced the expansion of the "First Movers Coalition", a partnership aimed at propelling【推动】 green technologies. Launched last year, the coalition includes businesses that make major purchases and investments in green technologies.
