台湾花莲地震致1死146伤

Multiple after-shocks rocked eastern Taiwan today after a magnitude【震级】-6.9 earth-quake struck Hualian County yesterday afternoon. At least one person had been killed and 146 others injured as of 8am today. Sun Siqi takes a look.

昨天下午（09/18）花莲县发生6.9级地震后，今日（09/19）台湾东部发生多起余震。截至今天上午8时，已造成至少1人死亡，146人受伤。记者孙思琪带来更多详细报道。

Four people, including a 5-year-old girl, were rescued from a collapsed building in Yuli Town, Hualian County. A cement plant laborer died in hospital. 8 villages and townships in Hualian and neighboring Taitung closed schools and businesses. 148 schools were damaged.

包括一个5岁女孩在内的4名受害者被从花莲县玉里镇一栋倒塌的建筑中救出，一名水泥厂工人在医院死亡。花莲和邻近台东的8个村镇关闭了学校和公司，其中148所学校受损。

A tourist recorded a ground shaking moment on a mountain about 1,000 meters above sea level in Taitung.

Multiple landslides blocked roads. In Hualian, about 400 tourists were stranded【被困的】on a mountain to the south of Yuli. They’ve since been driven to safety after a road was cleared.

Another 86 tourists were stranded on another mountain. Shelter was arranged at a nearby tea farm and they will be transported to safety once the roads are cleared.

Spokesperson Zhu Fenglian for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office said yesterday the central government was highly concerned about the earthquakes.

Zhu expressed condolences【慰问】to the victims and their families, and hoped everything would return to normal as soon as possible.

2.CONSTRUCTION PROGRESSES ON METRO LINE 23

上海地铁23号线工程开展

A diaphragm wall was erected at East Jiangchuan Road Station of Metro Line 23 in Minhang District. It will be the first station along the line to be built. The line will run from Minhang to Xuhui and is expected to divert passengers from existing subway lines. Zhang Hong brings us the details.

闵行区地铁23号线江川路站竖起了一道隔墙。这将是该线路沿线第一个建成的车站。这条线路将从闵行到徐汇，预计将对现有地铁线路的乘客进行分流。记者张泓为我们带来更多详细报道。

The 35-meter-long, 25-meter-wide diaphragm wall was set up this morning. The project’s chief engineer said the wall will be covered with cement and will support the underground structure.

The wall weighs 35 tons. It supports the underground structure, so we’ll need to wait until the wall is completed before we can start digging the pit.

整个地连墙笼重大概达到35吨, 它支撑着地下结构。所以只有地连墙成型之后，基坑才可以开挖。

Underground construction will begin soon on other Line 23 stations. The line will be 28.6 kilometers and have 22 stations, all along the Huangpu River.
