1.TAKING THE METRO BECOMES EASIER
支付宝、微信实现乘地铁“一码通行”
Starting today, subway commuters can use Alipay and Wechat to take the Shanghai Metro. The two apps now incorporate PCR test durations, health QR, venue and ticket codes on Metro Daduhui, Shanghai Metro's official app, into the same page. That means scanning the venue code is no longer necessary. Song Wenjing has more.
从今天（9/28）开始，乘客可以使用支付宝和微信来乘坐上海地铁。这两款应用现在将核酸信息、健康码、场所码和上海地铁官方应用——Metro大都会上的乘车码纳入同一页面。这意味着人们无需扫描场所码即可乘车。记者宋雯婧带来更多详细报道。
At Shanghai Jiao Tong University Station along Line 10, passengers showed the code page from either Alipay or WeChat to Metro staff and went through the turnstiles. They no longer have to scan the venue code as both Alipay and Wechat have incorporated passengers' health QR, venue and ticket codes into the same page. Users will need to enable Bluetooth on their smartphone to use the apps.
在地铁10号线交通大学站入口处，乘客向地铁工作人员展示了支付宝或微信的页面，并通过了旋转门。因为支付宝和微信实现了“三码合一”，他们不再需要扫描场所码即可直接刷码进站。在使用这些应用程序时，用户需要启动蓝牙。

A fast-track channel has been set up in our station for Alipay and WeChat users from 5:30pm to 6:30pm on weekdays.

Another 105 Metro stations have done likewise, which means Alipay, WeChat and Daduhui users can enter more quickly.

2.CHINA-MADE PROTON THERAPY MACHINE GAINS REGULATORY APPROVAL

The first China-made proton【质子】 therapy system has received approval from the National Medical Products Administration. The machine is now available to cancer patients at Ruijin Hospital, where clinical trials have proven successful. Sun Siqi takes a look at how it's different than other cancer therapies.
首台中国制造的质子治疗系统已获得国家药品监督管理局的批准，将在瑞金医院正式投入使用，用于癌症治疗，该系统在瑞金医院的临床试验已被证明是成功的。记者孙思齐将带大家看看它与其他癌症疗法系统的区别。
Proton therapy is a new type of radiation therapy that uses proton particles【粒子】 to destroy cancerous cells. The key benefit is precision. The proton beams deliver a higher dose of radiation to cancerous cells, but significantly less radiation to healthy ones, thus resulting in milder side effects and lower risks of secondary cancers. This can be essential for patients with a tumor in the brain or other vital organ. The Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics under the Chinese Academy of Sciences developed the machine. In April, a male patient received therapy for a spinal chord tumor that came back. The tumor occurred at the base of the spine and had spread to surrounding bone and nerve tissues. Before treatment, the man needed a urinary catheter. He was able to urinate normally three months after the treatment.

We consider this treatment successful. So far, 100 percent of tumors have been controlled among our test subjects, which means the tumor is no longer growing. We've also had a number of subjects whose tumor has significantly shrank or disappeared.

The hospital says the treatment is best suited for tumors in areas including head and neck, chest, pelvis and spine, though doctors will need to assess whether proton therapy is necessary.

Evaluations wrapped up【圆满完成】 in June 2021. The hospital said it was able to offer the therapy faster due to the National Medical Products Administration's fast track approval process.

3.4 UKRAINIAN REGIONS RELEASE REFERENDUM RESULTS

Four Russian controlled regions in Ukraine released the results of the referendums on joining Russia yesterday. According to reports from Moscow, the majority of voters supported in favor of joining the Russian Federation. Lei Shuran has the story.

Moscow is calling the results valid, saying that voter turnout in all four of the regions exceeded 50 percent. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov yesterday said that Russia remains ready to negotiate with Ukraine, adding that although the situation and conditions are changing, the goals of the special military operation remain unchanged. In Western Russia, Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu visited a military training camp for recently mobilized reservists yesterday. During the yesterday's UN Security Council meeting on Ukraine, a Chinese envoy【代表】 called for efforts to be made in reaching a political settlement.
