燒餅包油條再加一杯豆漿是現在台灣人的普遍的早餐，古早時代，正港台灣早餐卻是油炸粿沾杏仁茶的。
油條配杏仁茶的記載在日治時期出版的《民俗台灣》裡就曾出現，有段描繪1914年的士林市場的回憶，指出當時杏仁茶配「油車粿」是飲食店裡非常方便的早餐，其中「油車粿」指的是我們現在所謂的「油條」。
