身的禪(簡單的身Simplicity)
有一日，有位俗家弟子誦讀《勸發菩提心文》時，不明白其中「全剛非堅、願力最堅」的經句，就來請教無相大師。大師慈祥地開示說：「人們在學佛的修持過程中，難免因人的情緒、機緣、業障等原因，而發生退失『菩提心』的時候，這就必須要靠願力來支持、鞭策。歷代的高僧大德凡有所成就者，無一不是靠誓不退轉的願力支撐的！」弟子仍疑惑不解地說：「為甚麼說成佛，首先要立下普度眾生的誓願呢？所謂『地獄未空，誓不成佛』。」這時無相大師開示說：「拿一棵樹來作譬喻吧，芸芸眾生如樹根，菩薩如樹上的花朵，而佛便是樹的果實。要想開花結果，就須灌溉樹根，讓它吸收充足的水分；假如不澆灌樹根，這棵樹便會逐漸枯死，怎麼能期望它開花結果呢？」聽聞教誨的弟子才領悟到願力的重要後，又問道：「師傅，您的願力是甚麼？」無相微笑著說：「不告訴你。」弟子不解地問：「為甚麼不告訴我？」無相大師說：「我的願力是我的，你為甚麼不自己發自己的誓願呢？」弟子忽然領悟到：「各人吃飯各人飽，各人生死各人了。」
自古至今，不少禪師很講究喝茶；他們並不是因渴而飲，而是從中顯露其禪機來，所謂「喝茶去！」得悟大道。有一西方學者很欣賞日本的茶道，這是一門沉默的藝術，三五人默默地進行著心靈的交往。這位學者聽說茶道中有一種禪的蘊含，就懷著探索的心情，叩開了一位禪師家的大門，去請教其中的哲理。禪師頗有禮貌地邀請來賓喝茶。禪師正襟危坐，按照茶道的次序將茶做好，再倒進來賓的杯子中，整個過程都一言不發。來賓也不好開口，祇好由著主人款待。可是，那位禪師卻始終握著茶壺，向客人的杯子不停地傾倒著。杯子滿了，茶水溢出來，流到了榻榻米上，可禪師還是一直不停地倒著。來賓終於忍不住了，帶著激動的語氣說：「大師，我的杯子滿了，不要再倒了。」禪師這才放下茶壺說道：「你的頭腦就像這隻將滿水的茶杯，充塞著自己的觀念和想像。如果不把它空掉，我說的禪，你又怎能聽得進去呢？」禪師的話，是讓來賓超越舊有的習慣和思維方武，超越對立和比較，使心靈達到一種空寂的狀態，才能體悟到禪的妙處。用沉默來體現禪境，也就是禪心的藝術體現吧！
We each have one amazing body that helps us to enjoy the beauties of life. Our bodies allow us to run, jump, skip or even sit. So, it’s very important that we respect our body. We can help nurture this respect in children, beginning with teaching them to describe and understand all the wonderful features of their body. When we know about each body part and its purpose, we can build a deeper appreciation, resulting in better care and treatment of our body parts. They all have varying responsibilities and we have a responsibility too. A responsibility to take care of it, so that it can take care of us.
For me, life is an interesting adventure worth living. I enjoy every bit of my life and enjoy things around me such as, beautiful landscape, budding flowers, green scenery, wonders of science seen in different forms, marvels of city life, the leisure of free time, etc. Though much of my daily life is routine-based, yet the variety and diversity of daily existence make my daily life an exciting adventure. My day begins at 5.30 a.m. My mother wakes me up with a hot cup of tea. After sipping the hot tea, I do jogging for half an hour on the terrace of my house, along with my elder brother. After the jogging, I brush my teeth and get ready for my study which continues undisturbed up to my breakfast.
心的禪(簡單的心Simplicity)
滾滾紅塵裡，人的變與不變，有時並非自己能控制的事。然而，無論怎麼變，你始終是你，這就是你的「本來面目」。祇可惜本來面目雖然人人有，但找到的人，卻如鳳毛鱗角。禪是一個無弦琴，在人的心中輕輕彈奏著，此曲只有自己才聽得見，別人卻無從領會。有人說禪者是寂寞的，但相比在現代都市中無數夜夜狂歡的孤獨的靈魂，他們的生命，卻是如此豐盛的。禪修其實很簡單，只要你願意，幾乎隨時都可以進行。禪修也可以很難，因為任何的修行，都必須修行者先放下。無論執著的是個人的得失，或是天下的興亡，山就是山，水就是水，禪者與世人看的世界，並沒有不同。改變的是一種心情，昇華的是另一種境界。
A man went to a Buddhist monastery for a silent retreat. After he finished, he felt better, calmer, stronger, but something was missing. The teacher said he could talk to one of the monks before he left. The man thought for a while, then asked: “How do you find peace?” The monk said: “I say yes. To everything that happens, I say yes.”
When the man returned home, he was enlightened. “Most of our pain, most of our suffering comes from resistance to what is. Life is. And when we resist what life is, we suffer. When you can say yes to life, surrender to life and say: ‘Okay, what should I be now?’ That’s where power comes from.” When the weather is bad, when our crush won’t answer, and when the obstacle won’t budge, we don’t say no. Say yes. Accept. Breathe. Life is flowing. Always. It’s us trying to swim upstream.
靈的禪(簡單的靈Simplicity)
英國醫生山姆·帕尼爾，是世界上第一個用科學實驗證明「靈魂」真實存在的人。他的實驗設計是：如果病人死後「靈魂」能飄起來，還能看到自己的身體，看到醫生們在搶救他的身體，看到天花板上的燈，那麼如果在天花板的下方放一塊板，板的上面放一些小物體(只有山姆自己知道是什麼物體，別人不知道)，那麼「靈魂」就應該能看到這些小物體。如果這個病人能被搶救過來，能夠說出板上的小物體是什麼，那麼就能區分出「靈魂」到底是虛無縹渺的想像呢，還是一個客觀存在的實體。山姆對100多個病人進行研究，發現其中有7個被搶救過來的病人，醒來後能說出自己「靈魂」離體時看到的景象，特別是板上的小物體，說的全都對。山姆的實驗獲得成功。「靈魂」是一個客觀存在的實體，有一定的大小，可以飄起來，可以移動，它是人生命存在的另一種形式，不是虛無飄渺的想像。山姆通過科學實驗的方法，證明「靈魂」的客觀存在。然而，在修煉界，人們早在幾千年前，就已經通過修煉，證實了「靈魂」的客觀存在，修煉界把它叫「元神」，是人在另外空間存在的身體。
明儒王陽明先生，有一次到金山寺去朝拜，覺得寺中的景物非常熟悉，一草一木似曾相識。信步瀏覽，走到一間關房之前，只見房門口貼了一張封條，左右觀看，好像曾經住過。王陽明終於按捺不住心中的好奇，請知客師父打開關房，瞧個究竟，知客師父連忙道歉說：「對不起!這間關房，是我們一位老祖師，五十年前圓寂的地方，裡面供奉著他的全身舍利，他老人家遺囑交待不可以開啟，請您原諒，千萬開不得。」「既然房子設有門窗，那裡有永遠不能打開的道理?今天無論如何，請您慈悲開來看看!」由於王陽明一再請求，知客師父礙於情面，無法違抗，只好萬分為難地打開房門，讓王陽明進去。昏黃的夕照裡，只見一位圓寂的老和尚，亙古如昔地端坐在蒲團上，王陽明一看，咦!怎麼和自己的容貌如此的相像?舉頭看去，牆上還有一首詩，寫道：「五十年後王陽明，開門猶是閉門人; 精靈閉後還歸復，始信禪門不壞身。」原來，王陽明的前生，就是這位坐化的老和尚，昔日自閉門扉，今日還來自啟，為後世子孫留下一點證明。
Several years ago, I went to stay with some friends who lived in an old house in the country. I had not told them I was coming, and when I arrived, they already had other visitors. “Never mind,” said my friend Ella. “You can sleep in the small guest room. We don’t often use it, but you’ll be all right for one night.” As we said good night, Ella added. “Oh, and please, lock the door before you go to bed. Otherwise it may open by itself.” Then, I locked the door, lay down in bed, and went to sleep. During the night, I slept badly; I didn’t really know if I was asleep or awake. But suddenly, I knew I was awake. Hands were touching my face. I tried to push them away, but there was nothing. I found the light switch, and put on the light. There was no one in the room. “It was just a dream,” I thought. And I went back to sleep. When I woke up next morning, I got another surprise. The door, which I had shut and locked, was open! During breakfast, I told Ella about my strange dream, and about the open door. “You too!” she replied. “Yes, I know. That’s why we don’t often use that bedroom. It’s the blind lady!” “What blind lady?” I asked. “Well, you see, many years ago, the people who lived here had a daughter who was blind. That was her bedroom. She died when she was about 30. And since then, she has kept coming back to her room. She always feels the sheets, before getting into bed. Several visitors have had the same experience. But she was a lovely girl. She has never hurt anyone.” I felt the skin on the back of my neck go cold. Since then, I have always believed in ghosts!
