ὥσπερ δὲ τὰ αὐτόματα κινεῖται μικρᾶς κινήσεως γενομένης 701b2 λυομένων τῶν στρεβλῶν καὶ κρουόντων πρὸς ἀλλήλας <εὐθὺς τῶν ζῳδίων τὰς μαχαίρας>, 3 καὶ τὸ ἁμάξιον, ὅπερ <ὁ> ὀχούμενος αὐτὸς κινεῖ εἰς εὐθὺ <πάλιν> καὶ 4 πάλιν, κύκλῳ δὲ κινεῖται τῷ ἀνίσους ἔχειν τοὺς τροχούς - ὁ γὰρ 5 ἐλάττων ὥσπερ κέντρον γίγνεται, καθάπερ ἐν τοῖς κύλίνδροις - , 6 oὕτω καὶ τὰ ζῷα κινεῖται. ἔχει γὰρ ὄργανα τοιαῦτα τήν τε 7 τῶν νεύρων φύσιν καὶ τὴν τῶν ὀστῶν, τὰ μὲν ὡς ἐκεῖ τὰ 8 ξύλα καὶ ὁ σίδηρος, τὰ δὲ νεῦρα ὡς αἱ στρέβλαι, ὧν λυομένων 9 καὶ ἀνιεμένων κινοῦνται.
Just as the things by chance are moved when a small movement has happened, when the cables are released and small figures> strike against one another; and as the little cart, which the driver (驱动者) himself tries to move it straight again and again, but which is moved in a circle because it has unequal wheels. For the smaller one comes to work as a center of the circle, just as in the case of cylinders, so too are animals moved. For they have instruments of the same sort, with the nature of sinews and the nature of bones. Some are like the wood there and the iron in that case, and the others, i.e., the sinews are like the cables, which are moved when released and loosened.
