God’s Gift of Mothers and Fathers

Parents and pastors and teachers must be mature enough to do what is right for the child and not just what is the easiest. Children need help to learn, boundaries, instruction, etc. Children need an example, they need to see their parents living what they say they believe. The Christian tradition and all that really matters in Christianity is primarily taught and understood in the home.

The person who offers belonging cares for themself and others at the same time. They remain stable in difficult situations, and they know how to return to a safe place themselves when they need to. They are devoted to taking care of the child. Nurturing, providing tender care, cherishing them with tender love.

How does a father nature his children? Most fathers work hard to earn a living, to provide. Children learn what they see, when a child is emotionally distraught the responsibility of the parent is to be with the child, not to dismiss the thing that has them upset, but to let them know that they are not alone. We all need input. We all need to talk.

We need to have a long-term view. It is helpful for parents as they look at their own lives and as they relate to their children and their lives and futures.

You don’t have to be a terrible parent. You are not the average of all of the parents in the world today. You are a parent before God, your children are a gift to you from God, and you are God’s gift to them as well.

What do you have that your children need? Be that. Do that.
