Salvador “Sal” Amado's dedication and passion for helping people and my community stems from his family’s history of migration to the US from Mexico in the early 1980s. His family were migrant workers harvesting fruits and vegetables throughout Florida and the Southeast. It was those struggles, along family and teachers, that opened his eyes to opportunities through education and advocacy.
Sal’s professional experience spans more than 20 years in both the educational and nonprofit fields. He has worked throughout the PK-20 pipeline and workforce development. His work has been in a variety of areas like college access, data collection and program evaluation, degree and career counseling, grant writing and implementation, community outreach/development, advocacy, policy, curriculum development, research, job-training, placement assistance, and event planning.
Sal, Alyia and Katie discuss inequities in services, outreach to communities, workforce development, and overall access to programs and services for communities of color.
