When you’re expecting an amazing year and instead go through one of the most harrowing experiences of your life, you re-prioritize your dreams. After Staci Danford went through a divorce at 49, she decided it was time to pursue her dream career.

She went back to school at the age of 50 and became an educational neuroscientist. She essentially studies the brain and learns why it does what it does and how it reacts to the stressors we experience.

One of the areas she’s most interested in? How the brain reacts when facing extended fight or flight periods, like times when we are burned out.

Her word is amygdala because this is the center of our fight or flight response. This same piece of the brain is what is most affected by burnout.

Learn how burnout is impacting the structure and makeup of our brain and why it really is so important that we find productive coping mechanisms as soon as possible. Staci has an amazing way of breaking down a complex process into terms that are easy to process.

Even more amazing are the tips she’s giving us for helping our brains battle burnout. Listen in to learn more.

“Research shows that burnout not only affects your mind, but it affects the physiology of your brain.” Staci Danford
