The Heavenly Father’s Covenant of Love

God’s covenant is His commitment to the people, and there are requirements from the people. These are expressed in the promises, the law, judgement, faithfulness and mercy.

The nature of the covenant is a solemn agreement or promise. The covenant is confirmed sometimes by sacrifice or by sharing a meal.

God told Noah He would establish His covenant with him. After he came out of the Ark, Noah built an altar and sacrificed to the Lord. It was a type of Jesus the sacrifice for the atonement for sin. Noah was keeping his commitment to the covenant when he sacrificed at the altar.

God’s covenant is a covenant of blessings because it is a covenant of love.

God is love. Every covenant He established with humankind is a covenant of love.

Romans 13:10 says love does not harm your neighbour because God is love, and He will neither harm the earth nor humanity. His covenant is to protect, preserve, and bless.

John 3:16 says for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.

Anyone born again, the Holy Spirit makes them righteous and holy, and dwells and pours His love in their spirit.

Since the Holy Spirit dwells in our spirit, we have His holy and righteous nature. We also have His love in our spirit in its entirety.

A covenant is a commitment between two parties. God is faithful and committed to keeping His part of the covenant forever.

God sent Jesus to redeem us. So now we are part of the blood covenant of Jesus. He is committed to delivering His children from the bondage of sickness and disease. He is committed to delivering us from debts. He is committed to delivering us from oppression. He is committed to meeting our every need and want. He is committed to directing and guiding our lives. He is committed to blessing us spiritually, physically, and financially. He does all these because He has to keep His covenant of love unconditionally. God bound Himself with the blood covenant of Jesus, the covenant of grace.
