Recognizing each of the faces of anger helps to not only dig at the roots of where it lays buried but it allows us to remove the fuel that enflames our anger to more damaging levels.
Bitterness is a consequence of a heart that won’t forgive. As followers of Christ, this is where the rubber meets the road. It is the absence of forgiveness that precedes bitterness.
The gospel of grace is the only source for true joy and breaking free from bitterness. When we extend it to the very people we’re least willing to love the very people who least deserve it, we will discover the cure for this cancer of the soul. The remedy for bitterness fueled anger is not encountered in delivering cruelty, but by delivering undeserved grace—just as God in Christ Jesus has done for us when we were least deserving of it.
