Audio Introduction to the track has background on the Little Orphan Annie series including information about the decoder pins and rings and the importance of the show in the culture during the Depression of the 1930's. This was THE most popular children's after school show on radio. Watch the film "A Christmas Story" based on Jean Shepherd's childhood... some good scenes involving Little Orphan Annie Radio Show. The photo is of Shirley Bell who played Annie. There were several actresses that played her, but Bell was the first. Remember, if an actor could make their voice sound like a child, they were golden... only sound counted, not looks! There will be about 24 episodes posted over the weeks and months ahead. This is just the first (Premier) episode for Heirloom Radio. All episodes will be in the playlist entitled "Little Orphan Annie" on this Soundcloud.com podcast.
