The Privilege of Prayer
Luke 11:1-13

Main Point: God is glorified when His children learn to enjoy prayer as a privilege.

Prayer is better when:

1. Prayer is learned.

• Luke 11:1 Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”
• John 14:14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.
• Ephesians 6:18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—

2. Prayer is persistent.

• Luke 11:8 I say to you, though he will not rise and give to him because he is his friend, yet because of his persistence he will rise and give him as many as he needs.
• Romans 12:12 rejoicing in hope, patient[a] in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer;
• 1 Thessalonians 5:17 pray without ceasing,
• Luke 18:1-8

3. Prayer is made in faith.

• Luke 11:13 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!”
• Hebrews 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
• John 16:24 Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
