243: Am I Vain Because I Want to Create a Personal Brand?

The third fear is the fear of seeming vain, and to beat that fear, you must:

(1) Embrace it - people who develop strong personal brands succeed more often than people who don’t.

(2) Realize that maybe it’s just you -- you’ll feel weird about going live on Facebook and having a camera pointed at you. But you’ll get used to it -- and remember, you’re developing great communications skills, which you need as a lawyer.

(3) You might be scared, but you have to jump in the pool to learn how to swim: “Find your courage and strengthen your self-esteem until you feel brave enough to make some noise and invite people’s attention. Then show them that you care deeply about keeping it.”

(4) Remember that you are a pioneer -- you don’t see many lawyers doing it this way -- so there’s plenty of room for you to be one of the first and succeed.

(5) Remember that you are inspiring and mentoring others.
