The most important relationship is with yourself. Are you really putting yourself first?
Putting yourself first goes against what women are taught. We are natural nurturers focused on caring for those around us, often putting others’ needs before our own. We are told to shrink back, be small, don’t take up too much room. Don’t be too loud, too thin, too fat, too tall, too short, the list goes on. It seems its impossible to ever be good enough to meet society’s standards. Especially because it keeps changing.
If you spend your life bowing to the opinions, needs and desires of everyone else, you risk losing yourself in the process, never reaching your God given potential and perhaps worst of all, you don’t serve anyone in your life or family well, because you’re too exhausted and confused to do anything well.
