1.COMMUNITY HOSPITALS EQUIPPED TO TREAT COVID PATIENTS

社区医院全力以赴，诊疗新冠患者

Community health service centers have been upgraded to treat coronavirus patients. More than 90 percent now provide oxygen and infusions, while 60% admit patients transferred from large hospitals. Tang Xiaofan has more.

上海各社区卫生服务中心采购升级了部分医疗设备，为新冠患者提供更全面的诊疗服务。90%以上的社区卫生服务中心目前可提供吸氧和输液服务，60%的社区卫生服务中心开始接收从上级医院转诊的患者。记者唐晓帆带来更多报道。

Some CT machines are available at 8 community health service centers in Jiading, including one in Waigang Town. At Waigang Community Health Center, a 73-year-old patient had an X-ray that showed he has "white lung". A doctor contacted Renji Hospital Jiading Branch for further consultation. Ten minutes later, it received notice to immediately transfer the patient to hospital for treatment.

嘉定8家社区卫生服务中心抓紧采购了一批CT设备，其中，外冈镇社区卫生服务中心的CT已经投入使用。一位外冈镇社区卫生服务中心的放射科技师在拍片时发现，一名73岁患者肺部显影呈一大片的白色状，俗称“白肺”。医护人员立即与仁济医院嘉定分院联系，进行影像报告的会诊。10分钟后，诊断结果传来，医护人员立即告知患者和门诊医生，进行快速转诊。

47 community health service centers in Pudong have extended outpatient hours to 8pm daily. At Weifang Community Health Center, the infusion area has been expanded to 50 seats.

浦东47家社区卫生服务中心已将门诊时间延长至每天晚上8点。在潍坊社区卫生服务中心，输液区已扩大到50个座位。

“We have also arranged more wards to treat patients transferred from city-level hospitals. The patients have mild symptoms.”

At Datuan Community Health Service Center, 3 more infusion rooms have been added. It has also been equipped with oxygen tanks and fingertip oxygen meters. Patients say it’s quite convenient since the nearest large hospital is 17 kilometers away.

大团社区卫生服务中心又增加了3个输液室。这里还配备了氧气罐和指尖血氧仪。患者们称，这样的社区卫生服务中心非常便捷，他们不用赶往17公里以外的上级医院，就能得到治疗。

2. COMMEMORATIVE STAMPS ISSUED FOR YEAR OF THE RABBIT

兔年生肖邮票发售，受市民追捧

China Post issued special stamps and a coin for the Year of the Rabbit today(01/05). In Shanghai, people were waiting in line this morning at post offices and banks to be among the lucky folks to get them before they sell out. Zhang Hong has more.

中国邮政今天（01/05）发行了兔年生肖邮票和纪念币。上海市民们在邮局和银行排队等候，希望能在邮票售罄之前买到心仪的款式。记者张泓带来详细报道。

Many were waiting outside a post office in Huangpu District to buy the commemorative【纪念性的】stamps. Each set of two stamps costs 2.4 yuan. 77.5million stamps were issued nationwide. Although they can be purchased online, many prefer buying them at a post office.

黄浦区的某邮局门口，许多市民正在排队等待购买兔年纪念邮票。每套邮票包含2枚，售价2.4元。全国共发行了7750万枚邮票。虽然开放了网上购买通道，但许多市民更喜欢在邮局购买。

“I came here at 10 last night and waited for about 8 hours. My daughter and son-in-law were both born in the Year of the Rabbit. I think it’s auspicious【吉祥的】to get such stamps.”

“我昨天10点钟就过来了，等了大概有8个小时了。因为我女儿女婿都属兔的，所以想图个吉利。”

80 places at the post office were all taken within 10 minutes after sale started at 6:30. The set has two stamps. One features a blue rabbit holding a letter in one hand and a pen in the other. "Blue rabbit" is pronounced as blueprint in Chinese, extending best wishes for the new year. The other stamp has three rabbits running in a circle, symbolizing vitality. The set was designed by artist Huang Yongyu, who is now 100 years old. Back in 1980, Huang had designed stamps for the Year of the Monkey.

1月5日清晨6时30分，邮局开始销售兔年邮票。80个购买名额在开始销售后的10分钟内，便一售而空。此次发行的《癸卯年》特种邮票，由我国100岁高龄的著名艺术家、“猴票之父”黄永玉操刀设计，一套两枚：第一枚名为“癸卯寄福”，蓝色卯兔左手持信，右手执笔，蓝兔谐音“蓝图”，寄予新的一年共绘宏伟蓝图的美好愿景；第二枚名为“同圆共生”，三只兔子首尾相接、奔腾不息，表达出生生不息、团圆美满的吉祥寓意。

“The rabbit looks mischievous. Quite interesting. It’s a way to send your blessings if you use the stamp on a letter to friends and relatives. ”

“我第一眼就觉得这个小兔子很古灵精怪，用邮票写信，寄给亲朋好友，是一种很好的新年祝福。”

A commemorative coin for the Year of the Rabbit was also issued today. A total of 120 million coins were issued nationwide. It costs 10 yuan and has the same denomination. ICBC’s Zhabei Branch opened two counters for people to buy it.

除了生肖邮票外，兔年纪念币也于今日（01/05）正式发布。全国共发行了1.2亿枚纪念币，价格为10元，与人民币面额相同。中国工商银行闸北支行开设了两个柜台供市民购买。

3.U.K. PM PLEDGES TO HALVE INFLATION, BOOST ECONOMY

英国首相承诺将通货膨胀率减半，促进经济发展

In his first major speech of 2023, U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said he plans to halve inflation【通货膨胀】and boost the country’s economy.

英国首相里希·苏纳克在其2023年的首次重要演讲中表示，他计划将通货膨胀率减半，并促进国家经济发展。

Sunak made five pledges. They are: to halve inflation; to grow the economy; to reduce the national debt; to cut hospital waiting lists; and to stop illegal migrant boats from crossing the English Channel. He said his government will halve inflation this year to reduce the cost of living and provide financial security to the people of Britain. According to official figures, the UK’s annual inflation dipped to 10.7 percent in November from 11.1 percent in October. Sunak is also facing a crisis with the UK National Health Service, as 13 hospital trusts declared emergency status at the start of the new year. The government said it is doing all it can to free up capacity in hospitals and explained that many of the issues the NHS is facing are partly due to the "backlog" created by the pandemic.
