1.CORPORATE LOANS RISE AT STEADY PACE IN SHANGHAI

上海企业贷款稳步增长

The Shanghai branch of the People’s Bank of China hold a news briefing today that Renminbi loans in the city rose 9.3 percent last year. Ying Junyi has more.

2月3日，人民银行上海总部举办上海金融运行情况新闻通气会，披露2022年上海的人民币贷款余额同比增长9.3%。记者应骏一带来更多详细报道。

Central bank data showed the overall loan balanced at 10.3 trillion yuan in the city as of the end of last year, up 7.4 percent year-on-year. Of that, the Renminbi loans came to 9.6 trillion yuan.

央行数据显示，截至2022年12月末，上海本外币贷款余额为10.3万亿元，同比增长7.4%。其中，人民币贷款余额9.6万亿元。

The 7.4 percent growth was not very fast. The main reason was that many institutions repaid many of their foreign currency loans, especially those in US dollars, as the Chinese yuan had depreciated【贬值】against dollars last year. So the loan balance in foreign currencies in the city reported a 20 percent decline last year, but this also illustrates that the city has strong economic vitality and forex【外汇】management ability.

7.4%确实不高，核心的原因就是去年人民币对于美元贬值之后，个别机构和主体从避险的需要，对外债，尤其是美元债务加速进行偿还，外币贷款去年下降20%，这也说明了上海经济的活跃性和汇率管理水平是比较高的。

The data also showed that new yuan lending in the city exceeded 820 billion yuan last year, with much of that for medium- and long-term loans. And more recently, many loans during the past month have been extended to companies in the real estate【房地产】and hospitality sectors, which officials said means demand in those sectors has been growing. The average interest rate of company loans went down by 0.6 percent during the past year, settling at nearly 3.6 percent.

数据还显示，上海去年新增人民币贷款超过8200亿元，其中大部分为中长期贷款。12月贷款行业主要是房地产业和住宿餐饮业，反映出房地产业和接触性服务业需求不断增长。企业贷款加权平均利率为3.6%，一年内下降了0.6%。

2.MAINLAND TO FULLY RESUME TRAVEL WITH HK, MACAO

Nowmoving on to other stories. Travel between the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Macao will fully resume on Monday. Zhang Hong has more.

Starting Monday, the Chinese mainland will no longer cap【限额】the number of travelers between the mainland, Hong Kong, and Macao via land ports in Guangdong Province. They will no longer need to make reservations. Passengers arriving in the mainland will no longer need a PCR test result if they haven’t traveled internationally in the previous seven days.

从周一（02/06）开始，取消经粤港陆路口岸出入境预约通关安排，不设通关人员限额。自香港、澳门入境人员，如7天内无外国或其他境外地区旅居史，无需凭行前新冠核酸检测阴性结果入境。

Online travel agency Ctrip said searches for trips to Hong Kong and Macao increased threefold today. Online ticketing service provider Fliggy found most tourists who booked tickets to Hong Kong and Macao are from Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu. A travel agency said it will increase the percentage of group tours to about 30 percent among all trips to the two regions. Group tours represented only 10 percent of all trips in 2019.

携程网表示，整个香港和澳门目的地搜索量瞬间涨了三倍左右。飞猪的赴港澳机票搜索量数据显示，上海、成都、北京、杭州等城市成为近期赴港澳旅游的热门客源地。春秋旅游表示，2019年团队游只占港澳游的1成，今年预计提升到3成左右。

People used to travel to Hong Kong and Macao quite often, so they were familiar with the two regions and didn’t need much help. But now many haven’t been to the two places for a long time, so we expect they will need help with procedures.

因为原来大家是一直去港澳，很熟悉，不需要太多辅助。那么疫情三年，阻隔了很多，还是有很多手续大家心里不太踏实，希望更全面地了解，同时也能有人照顾，我们也是希望能够把它做好。

Hong Kong yesterday announced 500,000 free air tickets for visitors, while Macao said it expects to offer 120,000 free air tickets to attract visitors.

为促进旅游复苏，香港政府宣布将免费派发50万张机票，而澳门特区政府今年也将送出12万张机票。

3.UKRAINIAN, EU LEADERS DISCUSS COOPERATION AND INTEGRATION

乌克兰-欧盟高层会谈：泽连斯基再催“入盟” 望今年启动谈判

In June 2022, EU leaders accepted Ukraine as a candidate for membership in the bloc. On a visit to Kyiv yesterday, European Commission President Ursula Von der Leyen met Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy to discuss cooperation and the country’s European integration【一体化】.

2022年6月，欧盟委员会给予乌克兰欧盟候选成员国地位。当地时间2023年2月2日，欧盟委员会主席乌尔苏拉·冯德莱恩抵达基辅，与乌克兰总统弗拉基米尔·泽连斯基举行会谈，讨论了持续合作以及乌克兰加入欧盟的相关事宜。

Topics in the discussion included trade liberalization between Ukraine and the EU, financial cooperation, and energy security. Speaking after the talks, which took place in Kyiv ahead of the Ukraine-European Union summit, Zelenskyy said Von der Leyen and other EU officials’ visit to Ukraine marks an important milestone in Ukraine’s European integration. He added that he received a report from Von der Leyen on the status of the second batch of documents his government had filed to become a candidate for EU membership.
