1.LINGANG STRIVES TO BECOME ATTRACTIVE FOR INVESTMENT, TRADE & LOGISTICS
临港有望成为投资、贸易和物流的吸引力
Tomorrow will mark the 3rd anniversary of Lingang Special Area of the China (Shanghai) Free Trade Zone. The area is expected to become an attractive place for investment, trade and logistics【物流】. Zhang Hong tells us more about some of the achievements.

Yangshan Special Comprehensive Bonded Area has a real-time data system that records its inbound and outbound cargo. More than 9,200 shipments had been allowed in and out from the bonded area without declaration since 2020. Over half of the companies in the zone benefited from the non-declaration policy.
洋山特殊综合保税区内有一个实时数据系统，对区内进出境货物进行记录。自2020年以来，

In the first half of this year, the number of shipments that were allowed into and out of Yangshan Special Comprehensive Bonded Zone without declaration increased six times year-on-year. The new policy contributed to economic growth.
今年上半年，洋山特殊综保区的“径予放行”的批次数比去年同期增长了6倍。新政策最终是要促进我们产业的发展。
From January to June, the bonded zone’s trade volume reached almost 83 billion yuan, an increase of 26% year-on-year. Logistics has also been granted more freedom at Yangshan Port. In late May this year, 27 containers from Canada were loaded onto a Maersk vessel at Yangshan and shipped to Tianjin, making it the first foreign company to start international cargo relays in China.
今年上半年，洋山特殊综保区进出口值近830亿元，同比增长26%。洋山港的物流也获得了更多自由。今年5月底，马士基航运旗下”的货船装载27个自加拿大进口、经洋山港中转的外贸集装箱，通过沿海捎带运往天津港，成为首家在中国开展国际货物中转的外国公司。

To attract more companies to Lingang, those in key areas are offered a corporate income tax rate of 15%, compared to the average 25% tax rate.

A total of 132 companies benefitted from tax exemptions【免除】. They saved a combined 1.173 billion yuan in taxes.
临港新片区开展的（企业所得税）优惠资格认定共涉及132家企业，累计为企业减税11.73亿元。
In the past three years, Lingang issued 87 policies, including 36 that were introduced for the first time in China. Fixed-asset investment and revenue both increased an average of more than 40% annually since 2020.
三年来，临港出台的政策已形成87个制度创新典型案例，其中全国首创案例36个。自2020年以来，固定资产投资及财政收入平均增速均超过40%。
2.PEDESTRIAN STREET OFFERS VOUCHERS TO SPUR SALES
南京路步行街发放代金券以促进销售
18,000 lucky residents have managed to get their hands on some Nanjing Pedestrian street vouchers. The vouchers are valid at the Shanghai New World Department Store and several time-honored food shops and restaurants. Zhang Yue was at the pedestrian street and tells us the details.

At the Shanghai New World Daimaru, Ms. Ma was happy to pamper【纵容】 herself, she managed to purchase a 600 yuan voucher for 300 yuan on the pedestrian street’s mini program embedded【嵌入】in the Alipay app. The voucher can be used along with other promotional activities.

A total of 10,000, 200-yuan vouchers were sold for 100 yuan a piece yesterday, as well as 8,000, 600-yuan vouchers at 300 yuan.

The total sales of the Nanjing Road pedestrian street exceeded 10 billion yuan last year, making it one of the most lucrative【获利多的】commercial hubs in the city. The street management says even though Nanjing road suffered an unprecedented impact from being closed for two months earlier this year, they have faith that the numbers will come up in the second half of the year, as locals and tourists can’t seem to resist the charms of this century-old shopping street.

More than 2.4 million people visited our page on the mini program within 15 minutes. All of the vouchers were sold in just few minutes. We have also worked with banks to provide 7,000 group purchase vouchers.

Wei said sales at New World Daimaru department store, and the New World Department Store more than doubled as of 4pm today, compared to the same time last year. 12,000 more of these vouchers will be issued in September.

3.UN, TURKEY AND UKRAINE DISCUSS GRAIN EXPORTS, NUCLEAR SAFETY
联合国、土耳其和乌克兰举行三方会谈，聚焦核电站和粮食问题
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy yesterday met visiting United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and the Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan in the western Ukrainian city of Lviv. They discussed grain exports and the situation at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant. Lei Shuran has the story.
昨天（8/18），乌克兰总统泽连斯基在西部城市利沃夫与到访的联合国秘书长安东尼奥·古特雷斯以及土耳其总统塔伊普·埃尔多安举行会谈，就粮食出口以及扎波罗热核电站等问题进行了讨论。记者雷舒然带给更多详细报道。
The meeting lasted about 40 minutes. This is Erdogan’ first visit to Ukraine since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. During the meeting, Turkey and Ukraine signed an agreement involving assistance in infrastructure reconstruction. Erdogan said he would discuss the details of his talks with Zelenskyy and Guterres with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Zelenskyy stressed that negotiations with Russia will only be possible if Russian forces leave Ukrainian territory. He completed the missing parts himself in English, irked【使烦恼】by a translator’s failure to interpret his comments properly. Guterres also used the occasion to urge Russia and Ukraine to show a "spirit of compromise" and ensure the continued success of a UN-brokered deal that has allowed Kyiv to resume grain exports from its Black Sea ports. He also talked about the UN’s role in ensuring security at the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant and stressed the need for its demilitarization【非军事化】.

Instead, agreement is urgently needed to reestablish Zaporizhzhia as purely civilian infrastructure and to ensure the safety of the area.

Russia’s Foreign Ministry dismissed the proposal, and accused Kyiv of organizing provocations 【挑衅】and being unable to control nationalist groups. It said the implementation of the proposal will make the plant even more vulnerable.
