The six astronauts aboard China’s space station are preparing for the hand over from one crew to another. They will be together for about five days before the Shenzhou-14 crew returns to Earth and the Shenzhou-15 crew takes over the station. Lei Shuran has the story.

Typical examples are air and water filters. Just like we replace the filters in water dispensers on the ground, the new crew needs to know when to change the filters. Many scientific experiments are under way in the space station and cannot be interrupted. So the new crew needs to know how to ensure the experiments continue.

最典型的就是空气过滤器或者水过滤器，需要定期更换，这些也是需要老乘组向新乘组交代。（另外）在天上每一天都在做大量的科学实验，这些实验也是不能中断的，也需要人不停地照料，所以说老的乘组也向新的乘组进行交接。

Jin said the space station’s life support system will adjust to the increased number of astronauts on board.

靳健表示，随着宇航员人数的增加，空间站内的再生环控生保系统也进行了相应的模式调整。

We need to adjust the control and collection of condensed water now that six astronauts are on board, not just three. We need to keep the air temperature and humidity within requirements. We have already considered and tested different working modes for teams of three and six people on the space station. So we are very confident that everything will be fine for all six astronauts.

The astronauts will also install cameras and emergency lights in the space station. Before the Shenzhou-14 crew departs for home, they will have to clean up after themselves, prep the spacecraft for departure, confirm cargo in storage and conduct other checks with the ground team.

2.UKRAINE SAYS OVER 10,000 TROOPS KILLED SINCE FEBRUARY

The office of the President of Ukraine said yesterday that 10,000 to 13,000 Ukrainian soldiers have died since February, the statement was made after the president of the European commission had said ten times that number had died. Stephen Rancourt has the story.

President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said on Wednesday that the Ukrainian armed forces had lost 100,000 people, and more than 20,000 civilians have died. On the same day, her speech was corrected and the "100,000 dead" was removed. The European Commission explained that the figure also included the number of wounded.

Medical students in Cambridge, England are testing a form of "hands-on learning". For the first time in the world, students will be practicing on holographic patients. The technology will be available as soon as next year and will enable students to learn through highly-realistic, simulatedscenarios【场景】. Sun Siqi has more.

The patient on this hospital bed is not real, it’s ahologram【全息投影】. Through their headsets, the medical staff and students in this room are able to share the same simulated surroundings. Unlike Virtual Reality, which totally replaces the user’s surroundings with virtual elements, this solution adds virtual elements to a real environment. It’s called augmented reality.In what it claims would be a world-first, Cambridge University aims to start using holographic patients in medical training for its students from 2023.

What simulation allows us to do is to have our students fail in a safe environment and to feel safe to fail. Of course, that’s not something we want to do with real patients. And so the simulation environment allows the students to take those next steps in their learning, where they have an increasingly real environment around them to practice the skills and techniques that they’ll need when they come to meet real patients.

The advantage of this software is that, yes, you can get yourself immersive into the scenario with the HoloLens headset, but actually you can even just join with a mobile phone. So mobile phones now have a technology that enables them to project on the camera everything that you would see in their lens.

A group of PhD students have been testing the technology for the past five months. For now, only a single module is available. It focuses on respiratory conditions, where students can use a stethoscope, read apatient monitor, put on oxygen masks, and more. Theholographic patient shows symptoms of asthma, followed by asevere allergic reaction, blood clot in the lungs and pneumonia【肺炎】. In the long run, more and more modules will be created, and a whole host of other scenarios will be available. The software is still under development but should be released at the end of the year. The University of Cambridge will also conduct research to evaluate the impact of this project both on students and patients.
