Episode 8: Minari, Representation and a Discussion of Being Asian in America in 2021
Manage episode 313359225 series 3267963
Hello! I'm back after a short delay, having to re-record this entire episode...
Anyway, I saw Minari and it's so far my personal pick for the Oscar because it just works on so many levels. In this episode, I'll discuss why I loved it and talk about the current state of Asian representation in films and TV.
Major spoiler warnings ahead for Minari so if you haven't seen it, please do so.
I'll also briefly discuss Disney's slate and dive head first into my excitement for Shang Chi.
After all of that, I'll spend the rest of the episode discussing the unfortunate events surrounding hate crimes against Asian Americans in the recent months. This will be a topic I will dive deeper into at a later date as well as I do want to share my story of dealing with racism while growing up in South Dakota.
Once again, thank you all for the support as I've seen some consistent listening numbers throughout the months and have continued to see more and more followers on Twitter. It means a lot and I hope I can continue to improve as a podcaster.
