Defining Moments: Your Kingdom Come, part of our Defining Moments series, explores how prayer connects us to God and keeps us grounded amidst cultural chaos. Pastor Brian teaches from Daniel 2, focusing on God’s sovereignty and how, just as Daniel trusted God in difficult times, we too can lean into prayer, humility, and faith.
Key Points from the Sermon:
1. Prayer Connects Us to the One in Control
Jesus prayed, Daniel prayed, and we are called to pray, as prayer keeps us connected to the One who is truly in control of all things. In a world full of uncertainty, prayer is our direct line to God’s sovereignty. (Matthew 6:9-13)
2. Trusting in God's Sovereignty
Even when faced with the impossible, like Daniel interpreting the king's dream, God remains in control. Daniel trusted God in both natural and supernatural circumstances, and we, too, are called to trust Him in every situation. (Daniel 2:1-13)
3. God Makes the Impossible Possible
Daniel’s humility, dependence on God, and obedience led to God revealing the dream’s meaning, proving that what is impossible for man is possible for God. Our role is to remain faithful and dependent on Him. (Daniel 2:14-35)
4. The Rise and Fall of Empires—God’s Kingdom Will Stand Forever
Though earthly kingdoms rise and fall, God's Kingdom will never fail. Daniel’s vision of the statue represents the empires that would come and go, but it reminds us that our ultimate hope is in God's eternal Kingdom. (Daniel 2:36-49)
5. The Church's Role in Encouraging One Another
As the body of Christ, we are called to stir each other up to live faithfully for King Jesus. Gathering as a church strengthens us, encouraging us to keep our focus on God’s Kingdom. (Hebrews 10:19-25)
