A Developing Relationship with Taiwan

瑞士的small talk

Taiwan does not yet gain much visibility among Europeans. Therefore, many Europeans have only limited knowledge about Taiwan. So did our guest in this episode, Nicolas. Motivated by his relationship with a Taiwanese, he started to learn more about Taiwan and attempt to integrate himself into its culture. Not only did he start learning Mandarin but also spent 5 weeks in Taiwan. With his bound to Taiwan getting stronger and his understanding in it deeper, he depicts the similarities and differences between his Swiss and Spanish background and Taiwanese culture, the wrong stereotypes he had had, and more unexpected encounters during his stay in Taiwan. In addition, he also briefly explains what Taiwan Employment Gold Card is and how to apply for one. Hopefully, more people who would like to establish a connection with Taiwan can benefit from his sharing.
台灣在歐洲的能見度並不高，因此歐洲人對台灣的了解也相當侷限。這集的來賓Nicolas之前也是如此。但因為開始跟一個台灣人交往，他開始對台灣有越來越多的了解，並嚐試讓自己更融入其文化。他不僅開始學中文，也趁著假期花了五個星期在台灣體驗生活。隨著他跟台灣的連結越來越強、認識也越來越深，他比較了他所成長的瑞士及西班牙文化還有台灣文化的異同，也分享了他之前有過的錯誤刻板印象，還有在台灣的所見所聞。除此之外，拿到台灣就業金卡的他也分享了申請過程和其功用。希望他的經驗可以幫助所有想跟台灣這塊土地建立關係的聽眾們。😉
