In this episode of The Simplicity Sessions, I sit down with Dr. Nicole Cain, a leading expert in trauma-informed clinical psychology and holistic medicine, to discuss her groundbreaking book "Panic Proof" and her personal journey from anxiety to embodied healing.

What struck me most about our conversation was Nicole's radical honesty about her own path – from being the "expert" who had all the tools (supplements, acupuncture, pharmaceuticals, you name it!) to finding herself in what she calls "the dark circle of hell" with debilitating anxiety and insomnia. Her vulnerability in sharing how she had to burn everything to the ground and get genuinely curious about what her body was trying to tell her is both inspiring and deeply relatable.

We dive deep into:

  • The profound shift from asking "what's wrong with me?" to "what is my body telling me?"

  • How childhood adaptations (like being the family peacekeeper) can become anxiety triggers in adulthood

  • Why having all the "right" tools sometimes isn't enough

  • The power of pattern interrupts and completely surrenders in healing

  • How to reclaim authorship of your own story when others have been writing it for you

This conversation is especially powerful for anyone feeling disconnected from themselves, struggling with anxiety, or navigating major life transitions. Nicole's approach beautifully bridges the gap between clinical expertise and embodied wisdom, showing us that our symptoms aren't problems to be solved – they're messages to be understood.

Whether you're a healthcare practitioner, someone on their own healing journey, or simply curious about the mind-body connection, this episode offers a fresh perspective on anxiety and what it means to truly come home to ourselves.

Join us for this soul-nourishing conversation about reclaiming our innate wisdom and learning to trust our bodies again.

- Understand the complex relationship between estrogen, anxiety, and (peri)menopause.

- Supplement your diet to mitigate menopause symptoms.

- Practice breathwork to manage hot flashes!

- Decode what your menopause symptoms are trying to tell you.
