On today’s episode we sit straighter in our chairs for a discussion with bank manager, Matthew Gallop, from the Community Bendigo Bank in Sandringham. We are introduced to community banking and how this model works to funnel 80% of profits back into the local area to sponsor and fund beneficial community projects.
We ask Matthew to recall his craziest experiences working at a bank and hear about arguments between coworkers about who should be wielding a weapon, cars through front windows, and an a metro train entering through the back wall.
We hear about how a community bank values its staff and customers, Matthew picking and building a team of staff that have a high regard for customer experience and an emphasis on a positive mindset.
We discuss the spending and money handling habits that have changed since Covid-19, shifting increasingly to cashless payments and the beneficial repercussions of this.
