I am thrilled to interview my friend and colleague Anita Johnston, Ph.D. She is a psychologist, storyteller, eating psychology pioneer, and author of Eating in the Light of the Moon: How Women Can Transform Their Relationships with Food Through Myth, Metaphor, and Storytelling, which has been published in seven languages.

She is the co-creator of the Light of the Moon Café, an interactive online women’s circle, book club or “workbook” for Eating in the Light of the Moon.

She has been working in the field of women’s issues, eating difficulties and body image distress for over 35 years and is currently the Clinical Director of ‘Ai Pono* Hawaii which has a residential treatment program in Maui and outpatient eating disorder programs in Honolulu. And she is the Executive Director of Eating Disorder Programs for the Integrative Life Center in Nashville.

We discuss topics including:

  • Being a trained story teller
  • Patterns in other aspects of life related to food
  • The theme of scarcity
  • Tuning into our clients language
  • Invite people to use their “superpower”
