Manage episode 294872622 series 2794531
The Business Show which was broadcast live on Marlow FM 97.5 on 10th June is now available here.
My guests on this show were Erika Moralez-Perez and Andy Steer - you can connect with them via https://www.linkedin.com/in/erikamoralezperez/ and https://www.linkedin.com/in/helping-you-choose-the-right-it/ respectively.
My two music choices for this show both had a business theme (sort of). The first echoes the belief of many a pre-start business – it’s an impossible dream. You can see and hear Andy Williams singing “Impossible Dream” at https://youtu.be/yaN8jxAFtDY.
I talk first to Erika Moralez-Perez about her business, Inhouse Virtual Solicitor, which is only a couple of months old. We talk about what makes her firm special, including an innovative fixed fee offering, as well as a subscription model, taking away any worries about what the final bill for a given service might be.
Andy Steer of Vividly Simple reluctantly accepts my calling him an IT expert, but prefers to be known for helping small businesses choose the right IT systems, and likes to be seen as the helpful, approachable, friendly face of IT.
“Slow” by Rumer was Andy’s choice of music for us - you can listen to it at https://youtu.be/jvYUfwMBCrU .
We then turn to Andy’s chosen story for us to discuss, which you can read at https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-56486784 . How great is it that the industry that was one of the earliest to be hit by the pandemic has found a way to generate income.
Erika’s music choice was “Summer in the City”, which you probably know, but have you heard the Joe Cocker version? We did, and you can too, at https://youtu.be/6Hxz6qJi-9k .
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-57394391 is the story chosen by Erika, expressing the concern about the impact of the pandemic on the careers of young people, which wafted into a conversation about supply and demand – key principles of economics, as well as the various schemes available to bring young people into businesses.
Our final conversation was sparked by the story I found at https://www.bucksfreepress.co.uk/news/19353310.aldi-tesco-asda---uks-cheapest-supermarket-revealed/ , but is price everything in business?
I close the show with a song all about business, business planning, and the importance of knowing what you’re trying to achieve in business – Bernard Cribbins with the massive hit that is “Right Said Fred” – if you run a business, you should take a listen at https://youtu.be/r5XX9LX2es4 - you do indeed “never get nowhere if you’re too hasty”.
You can contact Erika Moralez-Perez via 01923 587 318, erika@virtualinhousesolicitor.com or www.virtualinhousesolicitor.com and Andy Steer is available via andy@vividlysimple.com or https://vividlysimple.com/ - how vividly simple is that??
