What do you do when you see the positive effects yoga can have on the mind, body and spirit, but don't see yourself or others who look like you represented in mainstream media? You take matters into your own hands. This week, Carolyn Plater and Stephanie Kersta are joined by Shayla Stonechild. Shayla is an Indigenous spiritual activist, television and podcast host, and the founder of the Matriarch Movement, a podcast and not for profit. In everything she does, Shayla aims to highlight yoga, mental health, meditation and self-esteem in an accessible way. Shayla has been an advocate for Indigenous representation amongst brands and was the first Indigenous Yogi featured on the cover of Yoga Journal. She has also worked with brands such as Lulu lemon and Sage wellness. Tune in to this week's episode to hear the trio discuss Shayla's healing journey through yoga and her hopes of paving the way for more Indigenous women in the wellness world.
