Was India really designed to be a secular country? Has it ever actually been secular no matter what it proclaims in the constitution? Should the Indian state, any state for that matter, not interfere in religion at all? How has Indian pop culture affected the constitution’s pledge of ensuring a secular polity and culture?

These are some of the tricky questions Kunal Kamra and Sanjay Rajoura tackle in this 4th episode of Ye Bhi Theek Hai. As so often happens with serious debates in India, Bollywood comes in for slack. In this instance, for contributing to the erosion of India’s secular polity.

Watch or listen.
