1989年的「六四」之後，香港是全中國唯一尚能紀念這場民主運動的城巿。今年是六四32周年，也是《港區國安法》實施後首個「六四」，加上中共百年黨慶在即，無意外的，北京與港府以前所未有的強硬手腕處理有關議題，禁止支聯會(香港市民支援愛國民主運動聯合會)舉辦「六四」遊行及燭光晚會，任何悼念活動將被視為非法集結，同時部署七千警力嚴陣以待。
