Stories from the NYS PROMISE initiative. NYS PROMISE is a research project for 2,000 families in New York State with 14-16 year old teens who receive Supplemental Social Security income (SSI). The goal of the NYS PROMISE project is to explore the best ways to help kids with disabilities receiving SSI successfully transition from high school to adulthood.
