Her bestselling cookbook and online app provided her success, respect, and a connection to the cancer-battling influencer she admired the most. But a curious journalist with a sick wife began asking questions that even those closest to Belle began to wonder. Was the online star faking her cancer and fooling the world? Kaitlyn Dever stars in the Netflix hit series Apple Cider Vinegar . Inspired by true events, the dramatized story follows Belle’s journey from self-styled wellness thought leader to disgraced con artist. It also explores themes of hope and acceptance - and how far we’ll go to maintain it. In this episode of You Can't Make This Up, host Rebecca Lavoie interviews executive producer Samantha Strauss. ×The Biden administration treated Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky as a near deity, a heroic figure inspiring his underdog nation to repel the invading Russian hordes. Now that Trump has assumed power, the dynamic has changed and Zelensky is being described by the U.S. President in very different terms — as a “loser” and a dictator who refuses to hold elections that might challenge his position. Jimmy and Col. Macgregor discuss the reality of Zelensky that Americans have been denied by the mainstream, corporate hagiographic news media seeking to prop up Ukraine in the fight against Russia. Plus segments on Zelensky and Ukraine being snubbed by the U.S. over peace negotiations, Zelensky’s pledge to ignore any diplomatic arrangement that doesn’t include Ukrainian input and health officials Deborah Birx and Paul Offit admitting that COVID policy wasn’t based on science. Also featuring Kurt Metzger and Stef Zamorano!…
Among all the crazed crackdowns on speech in Europe, the Germans may be taking matters to the most insane levels. German authorities today brag about breaking into people’s homes and laugh about seizing their personal devices like laptops and phones — all for the “offense” of insulting someone, sometimes a politician. Imagine not being allowed to insult a politician? Jimmy and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss the transformation in Germany from liberal democracy to authoritarianism over just these issues. Plus segments on CBS reporter Margaret Brennan losing her mind by blaming the Holocaust on an excess of free speech and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth dropping truth bombs about Ukraine on European diplomats. Also featuring Stef Zamorano and Mike MacRae. Plus a phone call from Jeff Bridges!…
Christian Parenti is an investigative journalist, academic, and the author of several books, including "Lockdown America: Police and Prisons in the Age of Crisis" and "Radical Hamilton: Economic Lessons from a Misunderstood Founder.” He has reported from various locations such as Afghanistan, Iraq, Venezuela, and China. He is currently a professor of economics at John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York City. In this wide-ranging conversation, Jimmy and Parenti discuss why progressives should welcome President Trump’s assault on the FBI, an organization with a long history of targeting, infiltrating and undermining left movements. Plus a segment on Trump and Musk’s DOGE defunding the National Endowment for Democracy, a well-known CIA cutout. Also featuring Stef Zamorano, Kurt Metzger and Mike MacRae. Plus a phone call from Elon Musk!…
Steve Bannon pleaded guilty on Tuesday to defrauding donors to a private effort to build a wall on the U.S. southern border, ending a case the conservative strategist decried as a "political persecution." Bannon, a longtime ally of President Donald Trump, pleaded guilty in state court in Manhattan to one count of scheme to defraud, a low-level felony. Spared from jail as part of a plea deal, he left court saying he "felt like a million bucks." In this conversation with Jimmy, Bannon insists the prosecution was politically motivated and his relatively light sentence proves how weak the case against him was. Plus segments on Donald Trump initiating negotiations to end the Ukraine War and an interview with former Seattle City Council member and Workers Strike Back founder Kshama Sawant. Also featuring Kurt Metzger and Stef Zamorano!…
On a recent episode of The Daily Show, Jon Stewart advised Democrats that if they want to regain office, they need to chill a little on the fascist talk and actually offer an alternative. The late-night host showed clips of news anchors and Democratic voices talking about the “late Friday night purge,” where President Donald Trump fired at least 17 inspectors general. Reacting to the news, Stewart pulled out a prop axe and screamed, “Trump has ushered in the purge!” “I, for one, will take full advantage by doing some unpermitted lawn work,” he joked. “Although, just in case I’m misinterpreting, what is this purge about, exactly?” When realizing what Trump’s “purge” was really about, Stewart reacted in mock horror, yelling, “No! He got rid of 17 inspectors general? That only leaves—no one knows how many left. I have no idea.” Jimmy and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss how even liberal icon Jon Stewart sees the level of Trump Derangement Syndrome flowing through the Democratic Party. Plus segments on a recent NY Times hit piece against Elon Musk and DOGE, the Super Bowl halftime show performer who revealed and paraded around with a Palestinian flag and the millions of dollars in questionable spending being uncovered by Musk and his DOGE acolytes. Also featuring Stef Zamorano and Mike MacRae. And a phone call from Andrew Cuomo!…
Since the moment the oath of office left his lips, Donald Trump has been employing a “flood the zone” approach to governance, overwhelming the opposition, the media, the courts and the public with a head-spinning array of executive orders and executive actions. Jimmy and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss how this approach not only puts all Trump’s critics on the defensive, practically knocking them off their feet, but also disrupts the narrative driving channels embedded withing the Deep State-media nexus. Plus segments on corporate America abandoning DEI policies and Trump’s pledge to turn DOGE loose to investigate the Pentagon. Also featuring Stef Zamorano and Mike Macrae. And a call from Joe Biden!…
President Trump floated two bombshell ideas Tuesday about Gaza that has Palestinians, Israelis and the wider Middle East scrambling. The first: that the U.S. would take over the territory. "The U.S. will take over the Gaza Strip," Trump said in a White House press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. "We'll own it ... We have an opportunity to do something that could be phenomenal ... the Riviera of the Middle East." Secondly, Trump said that the entire 1.8 million plus population of Gaza would be relocated to other countries. Jimmy and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss Trump’s outlandish and illegal proposal for ethnically cleansing Gaza. Plus a segment on the 5,000 FBI employees tasked with investigating the January 6 riots at the Capitol. Also featuring Stef Zamorano!…
The Trump administration and billionaire ally Elon Musk moved to shutter USAID, an agency supporters say provides crucial aid to fund education and fight starvation overseas but critics argue is little more than a front for the CIA, sparking a showdown with congressional Democrats who blasted the effort as illegal and vowed a court fight. Jimmy and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss USAID’s history and how its application of “soft power” serves to prop up pro-US elements in foreign countries, frequently undermining democracy. Plus a segment with Elaine Culotti on a recent poll indicating LA residents are very unhappy with Mayor Karen Bass. Also featuring Stef Zamorano and Mike MacRae. Plus a phone call from Chuck Schumer!…
During her confirmation hearing to become Director of National Intelligence in the Trump administration, former Democratic Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard exposed some of the most egregious lies and failures of the intelligence community — information the vast majority of Americans have never been exposed to before. Jimmy and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss the shocking revelations contained just in Tulsi’s opening statement. Plus segments on Tulsi’s refusal to accede to Dem Senators’ demand that she label Edward Snowden a “traitor,” Senator Maggie Hassan’s brain dead questions for RFK Jr. and Trump’s promised imposition of tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China. Also featuring Mike MacRae and Stef Zamorano. And a phone call from Alec Baldwin!…
Not surprisingly, it has been primarily Democratic Senators asking tough questions of Robert Kennedy Jr. during his confirmation hearings to become Secretary of Health and Human Services under Trump. What may be surprising, however, is how poorly this questioning is going for the Senators, including Senator Lujan of New Mexico, who apparently didn’t understand that the HHS director has no control over Medicaid spending levels, and Nevada’s Senator Cortez Musto, who was lectured by RFK about the epidemic of childhood illness in this country. Jimmy breaks down some of the Dem Senators’ more glaring failures during the RFK Jr. confirmation hearing. Plus additional segments on Liz Warren’s full-throated defense of the pharmaceutical industry in her attacks on Kennedy and a Bill Gates-backed petition full of phony names purported to belong to accredited physicians attacking the RFK nomination. Also featuring Stef Zamorano!…
Even as Palestinians are beginning to return to their bombed-out homes in northern Gaza, President Donald Trump has said he wants to take those Palestinians out of Gaza and resettle them in Egypt and Jordan. Trump said he had made this request to Jordan's King Abdullah and planned to ask Egypt's president on Sunday, too. Describing Gaza as a "demolition site", Trump said: "You're talking about probably a million and a half people, and we just clean out that whole thing". He added that the move "could be temporary" or "could be long-term". Both Hamas and the Palestinian Authority condemned the proposal. Jordan and Egypt have also rejected the idea. Jimmy and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss Trump’s embrace of ethnic cleansing as the solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Plus segments on the Trump administration initiating the promised ICE raids to arrest and deport “illegals” and Dr. Phil joining in on one such arrest during which he interrogates an accused sex offender from Thailand. Also featuring Stef Zamorano and Mike MacRae. Plus a phone call from Mel Gibson!…
Dr. Scott Gottlieb is a poster child for the revolving door between government and industry, having served as head of the FDA under Trump before taking a high-paying gig on the board of Pfizer. Asked recently during a segment on CNN whether the COVID vaccine might be responsible for the dramatic spike in cancers in the past few years, Gottlieb predictably hemmed and hawed and sought to deflect blame away from vaccines. Jimmy and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss the rank corruption of the government-industry revolving door. Plus segments on Joe Biden’s admission that he’s guilty of war crimes and former Congressman and firefighter Curt Weldon’s perspective on the government’s failures in stopping the LA fires. Also featuring Stef Zamorano and Mike MacRae. Plus a phone call from JD Vance!…
After a bishop at the National Cathedral prayer service for the inauguration on Tuesday implored Donald Trump to “have mercy upon” immigrants and LGBTQ+ people, many have spoken out about the remarks – including Trump himself. In a lengthy social media post early on Wednesday, Trump called the Right Rev Mariann Edgar Budde a “Radical Left hard line Trump hater” adding that “she brought her church into the World of politics in a very ungracious way” and criticized her tone as “nasty”. Later on in the statement, Trump described the service as “boring” and “uninspiring” and said that Budde and her church “owe the public an apology!” Jimmy and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss whether Budde’s sermon will serve to bring the nation together or merely further divide us. Plus segments on Elon Musk’s recent “awkward gesture,” Joe Biden welcoming the “next Hitler” to the White House and NYC Mayor Eric Adams telling Tucker Carlson he’s leaving the Democratic Party. Also featuring Stef Zamorano!…
Dr. Anthony Fauci, former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID), told The Hill on Monday that he intends to accept the pardon preemptively offered to him by President Biden. Fauci said in an email that the White House approached him about the pardon about a month ago and that he did not ask for one. Jimmy and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss Fauci’s myriad crimes and whether accepting the pardon necessitates Fauci’s acknowledgement of guilt for criminal behavior. Plus segments on Donald Trump’s inaugural speech and journalist Max Blumenthal’s criticism of the Washington DC press corps for failing to speak out against the Gaza genocide. Also featuring Stef Zamorano!…
New users have piled in to Chinese social media app RedNote just days before a proposed U.S. ban on the popular social media app TikTok is scheduled to go into effect. The lesser-known RedNote is rushing to capitalize on the sudden influx while walking a delicate line of moderating English-language content. Meanwhile, Americans flocking to RedNote are expressing shock at what they’re learning about Chinese culture and the surprisingly comfortable conditions the Chinese people live in. Jimmy and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger talk to journalist Danny Haiphong about the propaganda most Americans are exposed to regarding China and how RedNote is unexpectedly helping tear down cross-cultural barriers. Plus segments on journalists Max Blumenthal and Sam Husseini being forcibly removed from Antony Blinken’s last press briefing as Secretary of State as well as CNN’s shocking response to this assault on the free press.…
