December 18th - NHL veteran Mathieu Schneider
Manage episode 350107697 series 3417343
In Episode Three of TDIS Matt, Sandy and Mike discuss the sports legacy of December 18th throughout the years, touching on legends like 'Rocket' Richard, Wilma Rudolph, Wayne Gretzky, Kobe Bryant and Ty Cobb. As always, the guys also make time for non-legends, taking little diversions to talk about a former top MLB prospect who wrecked his pitching shoulder in an off-the-field fight, the NBA player who's credited with inventing the spin move and a key part of today's episode is centred around VHS tapes (how's that for a teaser?)
Then, for our DORK DRAFT (Trademark pending), we talked to 21-year(!) NHL veteran Mathieu Schneider about the best defensemen of his era (1988-2010 or so) who didn't get enough love from the media and he determines which one of us knew those players best! Despite promising to play nice (and Mathieu is a genuinely nice dude), there is one former Head Coach he still couldn't help bashing...(another big teaser there...)
We're starting to find our feet and almost seem professional/organized during this episode. Well - other than one of our wives trying to FaceTime during the recording....
DRAFT RESULTS (each of us took turns picking a team of defensemen from 1988 to 2010 who never won a Norris Trophy - so no Lidstrom, Bourque or Niedermayer, etc)
MATT took:
Mark Howe, Sergei Gonchar, Sergei Zubov and Mike Green
SANDY took
Scott Stevens, Steve Duchesne, Phil Housley and Gary Suter.
MIKE took:
Larry Murphy, Vladimir Konstantinov, Brad McCrimmon and Teppo Numminen.
listen in to see who Mathieu thought had the best team and how Mike and Carla's FaceTime call went...
