Manage episode 405351191 series 3525474
EDINBURGH: In speaking to one of the Co-Founders of Bevvy, Laurie Black, we learn how the Bevvy app is being used, plans for the future, and what Laurie thinks is tragic about a whisky festival. Correction: George Clooney didn't make Slowhand, it was made by the owner of GreenBar in L.A., Melkon Khosrovian, who used two different yeasts during a slow fermentation process, starting with an ale yeast and finished up with a champagne yeast that removes all the sugar.
Challenge: The next time you go to your favorite bar, or distillery, show them the app and have them download. Download their app RIGHT HERE to begin scanning, read reviews & build a smart profile around your palate!

Laurie Black is the co-founder of the whisky app Bevvy, which was established in 2021 and has emerged as the ultimate digital whisky companion. As Head of Whisky, Laurie has curated a database of 150,000 unique whiskies, and worked with a team of app developers to build label recognition software that can accurately identify each bottle. Prior to Bevvy, Laurie had several roles in the whisky industry, such as hosting tastings for hungover stag groups, authenticating £1m bottles of Macallan and conducting sales of whisky as an auctioneer.
