GREENHEART: The Path to B Corp CertificationIn recent years, the B Corp movement has gained substantial traction as more businesses aspire to demonstrate their commitment to social and environmental responsibility. In this episode, Lucie Montel, a senior consultant at Greenheart, shares her expertise on what it takes for businesses to achieve and maintain B Corp certification. As Lucie explains, B Corp certification is part of a larger movement where businesses use their operations as a force for good. B Corp is a third-party certification managed by the non-profit B Lab. The certification was founded in the US and has grown globally, with over 6,000 certified companies as of today. This certification evaluates five impact areas: governance, workers, community, environment, and customers. Importantly, businesses must also legally commit to considering all stakeholders, not just shareholders, in their decision-making processes. Achieving B Corp status isn't a simple feat. Companies must score at least 80 points on the B Impact Assessment (BIA). An essential aspect of the B Corp process is acknowledging and engaging with a wide array of stakeholders. This includes employees, communities, suppliers, customers, and even the environment. By considering these diverse perspectives, businesses can develop more robust and inclusive strategies. As Lucie aptly puts it, there’s no business on a dead planet, highlighting that the long-term resilience and success of any company is inextricably linked to its social and environmental IMPACT.TOPICS COVERED:
