Collective Nouns
What is a Collective Noun? A collective noun is a word used to denote a group of people of the same kind. They are used with a plural sense even in the singular form. They do have plural forms too. Look at the examples given below,
Examples:-
group - A group of people / A group of musicians
team - A team of Cricketers. / There are several foreign teams of Cricketers who are willing to play for this tournament.
band - A band of musicians / In our school, there are two bands of musicians.
crew - A crew of actors / A crew of marines / A crew of filmmakers
gang - A dangerous gang of robbers /rowdies
swarm - A swarm of bees
array - An array of facts
anthology - An anthology of poems
staff - A staff of training teachers came to our school yesterday.
cluster - There are a few clusters of stars at this hour in the sky.
shoal - A shoal of fish
fleet - A fleet of ships
bunch - A bunch of keys / A bunch of grapes / A bunch of coconuts
comb - A comb of bananas
