Have you ever heard the term, "I woke up with one more today?" This term is used usually in a reply to the question, "How are you doing?" The answer is basically saying to the party asking the question: "I woke up today so I have at least 1 more day to do something where as others haven't been so lucky."
Death is a scary and tragic event. Each day we are given is a gift to do with it as much as we possibly can. The Beard, Curphy Smith, shares with you some of the more tragic and personal death experiences in his life that should have molded his thinking into a similar philosophical outlook.
However, for along time, it didn't.
