DEA Destroyed a LOT of Cannabis in 2022 - Cannabis Legalization News May, 2023 The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) reported that they confiscated over 5.7 million marijuana plants in 2022, which is a significant hike in comparison to the years prior that saw a decline in numbers due to legalization at the state level. The figures were made available via their Domestic Cannabis Eradication/Suppression Program (DCE/SP) report released earlier this year. Morgan Fox, political director of the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws (NORML), explained that this is due to half of US states still banning regulated adult-use cannabis markets. Additionally, federal taxation on state-licensed cannabis businesses makes it hard for them to access banking and financial services compared to their unregulated counterparts.
