Clare Home Buyers Reportedly Forced To Turn To Second-Hand Market

It's claimed those looking to buy a new home in Clare are being forced to turn to the second-hand market. Research published by estate agents DNG today has found that just 58% of new properties sold in Ireland last year were to individual private buyers. The remaining 42% - which accounts for 7,306 homes - were sold as part of block sales to non-household organisations such as Approved Housing Bodies, investment funds and local authorities like Clare County Council. Managing Director of DNG O'Sullivan Hurley in Ennis Douglas Hurley has been telling Clare FM's Seán Lyons that fewer new homes have been available in the private market as developers have been opting to build developments for Approved Housing Bodies which have less risks attached.
