This episode is a special one, it’s a trip down memory lane. A couple of years ago I sat down with an incredibly smart and talented young lady. She turns out to be The one and only Lydia Collins. For context, this interview was done around late 2018 so you are listening to the future in the making. Ever since the, Lydia has gone on to publish another poetry book To Everyone We’ve Ever Been, her work has been featured in major publications like The New York Times And more. She continues her work as a Sexual Health Educator and freelance Writer. Back in 2018, I’d bought a poetry book off her titled “Angry Black Woman” and I just wanted to talk to her more about the project itself. Little did we know the conversation was gonna be well rounded. Not only that but it led to a magical creative partnership and an ever better friendship. In this convo we Lydia drops gems of the Black experience in America, Her book at the time titled “Angry Black Woman”, her freelance work as a write and as a Sexual Health Educator, and so much more. We even talked about Trevor Noah and Tupac, two of our favourite humans. Needless say we talked about lots and you are in for a treat. So open your ears and get your note books ready for Poetic Justice. Here she is, my homie — Lydia Collins. As always, thank you for tuning into Conversations with Chance Mutuku*.
