Since Tracy Chevalier’s 'Girl with a Pearl Earring' was published in 1999, it has sold more than 5 million copies, has been translated into 39 languages and was made into an Oscar-nominated film. On the 20th anniversary of this enduring modern classic, Dr Janina Ramirez joined Tracy Chevalier and the Victoria & Albert Museum to talk about Vermeer’s painting of the same name, and how it inspired her.
