Mark begins his narrative by telling us that Jesus was with different kinds of sinners from the beginning. Jesus, the only One present Who was sinless, did not separate Himself from sinners but stood beside them to be baptized. Jesus went into the water. He was counted among the sinners, but Jesus brought no sin of His Own into the water.
