North MS Rural Legal Services with Attorney Ben Wilkerson
Manage episode 436498772 series 3288673
The Mississippi Taxpayer Assistance Project is a project of North Mississippi Rural Legal Services. The tax laws can be confusing and hard to understand. If you are having problems with the IRS, the Mississippi Taxpayer Assistance Project provides taxpayers with free legal assistance on tax issues throughout the entire year. Low income taxpayer clinics ensure the fairness and integrity of the tax system by educating low income taxpayers about their rights and responsibilities, by providing pro bono representation to taxpayers in tax disputes with the IRS and by identifying and advocating for issues that impact low income taxpayers. Although funded by the IRS, they are completely independent from the IRS and the Mississippi Department of Revenue. The Mississippi Taxpayer Assistance Project does not prepare current year tax returns.
