The Shark 102.3 FM Radio Station and Sun Bear Studio, located in Ripley, MS, are owned by Chris and Melinda Marsalis. Chris and Melinda have a passion for community development and love all of the amazing things that are going on in North Mississippi.

This Week: In this episode, Show Host Melinda talks with Becky Hershey, the President of the Board for Sharing Hearts, Inc.

Started in 2007, Sharing Hearts is a dementia care ministry serving the Corinth community as a daycare program for adults who have Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. The hope of the ministry is to love and care for those special adults while giving them the opportunity for socialization and to also provide a “break” for their long-term caregivers while giving the caregivers a built-in support group.

The group meets each week on Tuesdays from 10 am to 3 pm at First Baptist Church in Corinth (501 Main Street, Corinth). Activities of the program include crafts, light exercise, music, devotionals, and a rousting game of balloon volleyball which is the highlight of most days! Snacks and a noon meal are also provided.

The program is run completely through tax-deductible donations. If you would like to donate to this worthy cause, contact the director, Lanell Coln, or mail your donation to the First Baptist Church of Corinth with a memo that it is for the Sharing Hearts program. Checks should be made out to Sharing Hearts.

If you have a loved one who you believe could benefit from this ministry or if you would like to volunteer your time to serve, contact Lanell Coln (662.212.2303). For more information about the program, follow “Sharing Hearts Adult Day Care” on Facebook.
