In this episode, Char tells Ashley all about the history of Edinburgh Castle. Edinburgh Castle is a historic fortress that dominates the skyline of Edinburgh, Scotland, from its position on Castle Rock. It is one of the most iconic landmarks in Scotland, with a rich history dating back to at least the Iron Age. Perched on Castle Rock, a volcanic rock formation, the castle offers panoramic views of the city.
The site is a mix of medieval and modern military architecture, with structures spanning various periods, including the Middle Ages, the Renaissance, and later. The castle has been a royal residence, military stronghold, and symbol of Scottish power and heritage. It has played a key role in many historical conflicts, including the Wars of Scottish Independence and various sieges.
