With that in mind, welcome to episode forty-five with Jay Younger, the Aubrey Capital European Investment Analyst and Manager of the Aubrey Capital AIM Portfolio. Jay joined Aubrey Capital Management in 2018. He was previously an Investment Analyst focusing on European Small Cap equities for the Sustainable fund at Kempen Asset Management. Jay is a CFA charterholder and holds the Investment Management Certificate, as well as the CFA UK Certificate in ESG Investing. He graduated from the University of Heriot Watt with a first-class BSc Hons in Economics and Finance.
Jay’s journey to Fund Management is a fascinating one starting from attaining his Loughborough University Sports Scholarship (he was a hugely talented 400 metres sprint athlete) to study Sports Science and Chemistry. To answering calls about Pensions whilst with Aegon to briefly working as an Administrative Assistant with Baillie Gifford before tenaciously self-funding himself through his full-time Degree course at Heriot Watt University having visualised his goal of becoming a fully-fledged Fund Manager.
In this inspiring Investing Matters interview, Jay gives an overview of Aubrey Capital Management’s, their winning investment strategy, the importance of ESG, having one of the best Fund Managers in Sharon Bentley-Hamlyn as your boss and mentor, competitive advantage of the three 15’s, Growth at a Reasonable price, relative valuation matters, the importance of the companies having the ability to self- finance growth, Interest rates cycles, Risk free returns, Re-rating of potential of growth stocks, high growth margins, lean operations, Aubrey’s disciplined selling strategy.
