The Salem Witch Trials were a series of trials that occurred in colonial Massachusetts where more than 200 people were accused of witchcraft. Of the accused, 19 people were found guilty and executed by hanging; 14 women and 5 men. One accused man, Giles Corey, was pressed, or crushed to death.
