Growing up as a Sydney street kid bouncing between government housing and homelessness, Peter Graham was wandering aimlessly through life. Dropping into a karate studio one day, he figured it was a chance to finally be good at… something.
This led to a series of opportunities beginning as an ‘uchi-deshi’ live-in student in Tokyo as a Kuyokushin karate student under Japanese karate master Mas Oyama, and gave him the opportunity to compete in the world’s most popular kickboxing tournament, K-1, before being pushed out by the Kyokushin Karate Association.
Professionally, Peter’s competed in numerous disciplines including full contact karate, K-1, MMA, and boxing. He covers the stylistic differences between martial arts, his rivalry with Badr Hari and the ‘rolling thunder’, and how his fight with Alexander Emelianenko brought him back from obscurity.
Along the way we discuss the personalities he encountered including Mark Hunt, Ernesto Hoost, Bob Sapp, Wanderlei Silva, Cro Cop, Badr and the Emelianenko brothers.
