“The chain of custody for WHY AND HOW WE DO WHAT WE DO looks like this: Vision > Mission > Strategy > Tactics > Goals > Objectives > Assignments > Tasks > Actions Taken > Performance Review. Managers consider and over see systems, processes and tools to ensure each level of this progression remains in tact and functioning smoothly. Leaders are responsible for the people, the motivations, intrinsic and extrinsic, the execution and the follow up. Leaders must align the quality of action taken with the expectation of goals established as measured by the movement toward defined vision. In the end, everyday decisions seem small and irrelevant until they prove counter productive to the stated mission. That’s when menial tasks are recognized for the futility they are and not the essential functions they were meant to accomplish.”
