سُورةُ المجادلة سورة مدنيَّة بالإجماع، من المُفصل إِلَّا ما ذُكر في «تفسير القُرطُبِيِّ» أَنَّ الْعَشْرَ الْأُوَلَ مِنها مدنِيٌّ وَبَاقِيَهَا مَكِّيٌّ. وقال محمد بن السائب الكلبي: نزل جميعها بالمدينة؛ غير قوله: ﴿ما يَكُونُ مِنْ نَجْوى ثَلاثَةٍ إِلَّا هُوَ رابِعُهُمْ﴾ فإنَّها نزلت بمكة.
