In this episode, I delve into the experiences and struggles of those who learn and think differently, particularly those with dyslexia. I had the absolute pleasure of having Dr. Shae Wissell join me to share her own lived experience of dyslexia and how it has shaped her life and work.
Dr. Shae Wissell is not just incredibly smart and kind; she’s also a trailblazer in supporting adults who find reading and writing challenging. With a big fancy degree in public health and a wealth of knowledge from her own journey with dyslexia, Shae offers a unique perspective. Through her work with Rethink Dyslexia and the Dyslexia Foundation, Shae has created platforms that support individuals with dyslexia, helping them feel better about themselves and thrive in their work or businesses. She also works with companies, teaching them how to foster environments that are conducive to people who learn differently.
In our chat, Shae shares her personal journey, from a late diagnosis at 27 to navigating the workplace and eventually starting her own initiatives. We also touch on the mental health struggles often linked to dyslexia and the importance of early intervention and creating a supportive environment.
